It’s been a long time coming. This summer, to celebrate the launch of our new collection, we’re taking SMR Days back where it was meant to be: on the road.

It’s called the SMR Road Trip, a journey across continents to the places and people that have inspired us since the very beginning. With travel on the horizon once again, we want to remember how it felt to be away from home – all those neverending summer days, the fresh blue skies and sun-drenched shores, that feeling of setting off from one place and ending up in another. And we want you to remember it too.

The SMR Days Road Trip coincides with the launch of our Summer 2021 collection, the first pieces available now and the rest arriving throughout the summer in hand-curated edits. The collection evolves the easy, warm-weather mainstays at the heart of the label – laid-back shirts and shorts, relaxed suiting, lightweight workwear jackets and silk trousers – melding global inspirations with traditional Indian craft and rich, tactile fabrications.

Our first arrivals capture the freedom of the earliest days of summer: the Wittering jacket, our latest riff on the workwear jacket, is crafted from lightweight ecru cotton, decorated with a vivid azure-blue design – SMR Days’ take on tie-dye. The same colours decorate our Jondal tunic shirt in raw Indian silk – chosen for its matte, lightly textured finish – where each and every print is entirely unique, dyed by hand.

Other new fabrics add richness, including needlecord, in navy or blush pink, so soft and lightweight we think it has the hand-feel of silk. We chose to make our Astir chore jacket from it, for a laid-back take on the summer suit – choose the matching Bondi trousers or Leeward shorts to complete the look, depending on whether the sun is shining.

Our oversized Agadir shirt, an SMR staple, is cut this season from airy ivory and aqua cotton with a subtle gold lurex shimmer – a reminder of ocean waters, and the piece we’ll be wearing all summer long.

We designed everything in the collection to be easily mixed and matched, to be packed away and worn wherever you find yourself in the coming months – whether this is the summer which takes you on the open road or not.

The SMR Days Road Trip itself will take in the places most special to our founders Adam Shapiro, Dan May and Gautam Rajani – from Morocco to America’s Atlantic Coast – a chance to take a new collection to the places they always imagined it to be worn. In this spirit, alongside exclusive content created with some of their favourite image-makers, they’ll be hosting IRL pop-ups in London, Ibiza, Provincetown, USA and Mykonos, Greece.
